I called around and did some research- there are currently no rental car companies on the Big Island who offer EV’s. The closest thing available is a Hybrid car that you can get from Enterprise- so kudos to Enterprise for being halfway there. That’s a tad worrisome, but also leaves a business opportunty open for the future.

The rep at Avis that I spoke to says there are currently no plans to adopt any EV rentals into the fleet unless HQ in New Jersey makes some large deal. The distance from the Island to mainland is part of the issue.

Kind of concerning… I figured the island would at least have a plan to adopt EV’s… after all, I don’t see them getting carbon neutral by 2045 without them easily available.
